Vietnam Aviation Academy’s history spans 45 Years serving the Vietnam aviation sector.

For 45 years Vietnam Aviation Academy students and faculty have made their mark on the global aviation sector

1979

In 1978, Mr. Phung The Tai, the Head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), signed a decree to take the first steps in establishing the Vietnam Aviation Vocational School. The following year, Major General Vu Xuan Chiem, Deputy Minister of Defense, signed a further decree to begin the training of military officers and aviation professionals. This school’s early focus was skilling flying officers, including pilots, navigators, and flight engineers, and providing training for various aviation-related roles such as air traffic controllers.

1994

Fast forward to 1994, Minister of Transport Bui Danh Luu authorised the move from a technical and vocational school to a specialist college offering air traffic control, airport development, air transportation, and aviation electronics and telecommunications educational programs.

2006

In 2006, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem authorised the establishment of the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA). This academy, operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport beganhigher education admissions in 2007-2008, offering majors in Aviation Business Administration, Aviation Electronics & Telecommunications, and Air Traffic Management

2024

VAA was also empowered to meet the demands ofthe growing Vietnam aviation sector, providing vocational and short-term training programs for roles such as aviation security personnel, aircraft maintenance technicians, and flight attendants. In 2024, VAA proudly celebrates its 45th anniversary of skilling the generation of aviation professionals in Vietnam and Indo-China.
